You win as long as 5 to 45+ matching symbols land adjacent vertically and/or horizontally anywhere on the grid, and the premium symbols pay between 0.2 to 1 x your stake for 5 in a cluster. The payout range increases to 30 to 500 x your stake when 45+ matching premium symbols land in a cluster. Wild symbols substitute for pay symbols in all stages, and they hold no value of their own.

Winning symbols are removed via the Avalanche mechanic, giving you indefinite extra wins as long as you keep winning. Winning symbols fill up the Mystical Bonus Meter seen on the left-hand side, and you need 20+ winning symbols (including wilds) in a single Avalanche sequence to fill the meter.

A random pay symbol is then chosen, and all instances of the same category (low or high value) turn into the chosen symbol.

The feature can only trigger once per Avalanche sequence, as the meter will not fill again until the next spin.

You need 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 scatters in view to trigger the Bonus Round, and this awards 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 free spins, respectively. You get the Mystical Bonus feature on every bonus round spin, and there is no meter to fill. In addition, the win multiplier increments per avalanche win, from x2 to x3, x5 and x10 for 1, 2, 3 and 4 avalanches, respectively.

Review Summary

We were quite impressed by the audiovisual presentation in Aztec Artefacts, and we like how the winning symbols crumble to give way for new possible winning combinations. This will eventually fill the Mystical Meter to give you a mystery symbol replacement, and this usually leads to a decent payout.

We only wish the meter could be filled indefinitely, but you get plenty of the feature in the bonus round anyway.

When it triggers on every spin pretty much anything can happen, at least to the tune of up to 1,000x your stake. Perhaps adding more random modifiers would’ve given this release an even broader appeal, but the core feature is both entertaining and potentially lucrative.
