Play’n Go has had far more success with their 2020 release, Win-A-Beest, than we anticipated, and it’s actually breathing down Mega Moolah’s neck on the Safari-themed SlotRank charts. Safari of Wealth can be seen as a follow-up, as it comes with similar visuals, but both the math model, and especially the feature department, have undergone some significant changes.

The Wildebeest has been relegated from having its own Beest Mode feature to become the top-tier pay symbol, and most of the savannah backdrop is now blocked by trees that are bending in the wind. You get a random Gold Reels feature that may trigger a Pick Bonus with prizes up to 5,000x your stake, and you can choose 4 different grid sizes (bigger size equals fewer spins) when the bonus round triggers.

The premium animal symbols pay between 3 and 10 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the Wild symbol can land anywhere to help complete winning combos by stepping in for regular pay symbols. The Wild pays the same as the top-tier Wildebeest symbol, if you land a pure wild symbol win.

You can get between 1 and 5 Gold Reels at random times in the base game, and landing a wild symbol on a gold reel triggers the Wild Prize pick ‘em bonus. You will then pick from 15 game logo symbols to reveal animals, and you win the corresponding prize when you’ve matched up 3 animals from your picks. The Rhino, Lion, Elephant and Wildebeest prizes are worth 10x, 25x, 500x and 5,000x your stake, respectively.

Review Summary

We know that Play’n Go has a very busy schedule, and not every release can be the new Book of Dead, to put it that way. Safari of Wealth is a somewhat uninspired name that doesn’t really make sense, and it fits this somewhat uninspired follow-up game quite well in that regard. Visually, the similarity to Win-A-Beest is obvious, but the features are far more ordinary and run-of-the mill.

We didn’t think the original game would be such a hit though, so who knows how this follow-up will fare.

The Gold Reels is a somewhat innovative way to trigger the Pick ‘Em Bonus, and the 5,000x top prize is admittedly decent enough. Choosing between number of rows, win ways and spins is not really the most exciting bonus round options we’ve seen though, and you might as well go with the 15 FS option since 1,024 win ways is enough to crack the 10,000x potential from a single spin. This is clearly an attempt at piggybacking on the success of Win-A-Beest, but it comes across as a shelf-filler release to us.
