The whole time traveling element seems a bit underdeveloped in Reflex Gaming’s Time Machine, not least compared to, say, Betsoft’s Miles Bellhouse And The Gears Of Time. You get a decent retro steampunk visual presentation though, with some time-related and strange machines on display on the 5x3 starting grid. It’s more of a grid expanding journey than a time travel journey really, and things are kept rather simple throughout.

The base game is all about the Pay Rise Reels mechanic, expanding the grid by +1 row for consecutive respin wins. Maxing out the grid with +4 rows does not happen very often though, as this is how you trigger the bonus round. The good news is that the grid is maxed out with 16,807 win ways in the feature, giving you a fair chance at cracking the 27,471x potential (which is unusually solid for a low volatility release).

The steampunk retro visuals reminded us a bit of Wild Streak Gaming’s Amazing Money Machine, but Time Machine from Reflex is on the simpler side both visually and featurewise. The defining Pay Rise Reels mechanic gives you a lot of “premature” grid reset moments with a somewhat annoying pause before you can hit the spin button again, which might induce a certain fatigue in some players. At least it did for us.

Sure, with 16,807 win ways, and even less than that, you can crack the solid 27,471x potential from a single spin.

How likely that is is another question, of course, and there is no info provided about max win probability. Surely, your chances increase when the grid is always maxed out in the bonus round, but it would have been nice with some time-traveling related extras as well. Overall, a mediocre effort with a somewhat unusual math model.
