Maui Mischief Review

Old Skool Studios has only released 4 titles before this (with years between them), and Maui Mischief is the least experimental game so far. While the previous titles at least tried to achieve something original, and stick out in different ways, Maui Mischief does the exact opposite. The Tiki theme is about as mainstream as you can get, and they’ve haven’t exactly taken any risks with the bonus features either.

Stacked multiplier wilds and regular multiplier wilds don't exactly stick out in this business, and it’s even less impressive when they are limited to only 2x. The bonus round is the same as the base game, except for the 3x global multiplier. The math model is okay, but it lacks real punch, and the whole experience is reeking of someone who’s trying too hard to please “everybody”.

The tiki-masked shaman is the wild symbol in this game, and the wild can land in the regular 1x1 size, or fully stacked. Both the regular wild and the stacked wild comes with a 2x multiplier, in addition to stepping in for all regular pay symbols.

Old Skool Studios doesn’t have too many online slots under their belt yet, and they are clearly trying to find their footing in a highly competitive market.

That being said, Maui Mischief is a pretty “mainstream” game with regards to theme and features, but it brings nothing new to the table. The math model is decent, with an above-average RTP, medium/high volatility and a 3,000x potential. The 2x wild multipliers and the 3x multiplier bonus round is far from earth-shattering however, and there are plenty of better alternatives with a similar theme out there.
