Pandora’s Box of Evil Review

According to the ancient Greek myth, Zeus himself handed Pandora a box with strict instructions to never open it. As the story goes, curiosity got the better of her, and by opening the box she unleashed all the evils of mankind onto the world. The only thing left inside the box was hope. Pandora’s Box of Evil is a suiting title in that regard, and it comes with some evil looking creatures on the reels. Pandora herself, looking as innocent as Alice in Wonderland, is the top-tier symbol.

We were quite impressed by the bonus round intro, where Zeus himself appears in a massive thundercloud, and audiovisually this is a high quality production (like you usually get from Play’n Go). Everything revolves around the special Pandora’s Box Mystery Symbol, as it can reveal many different things including multiplier wilds. The mystery symbol is sticky in the bonus round, and you can win up to a decent 6,000x your stake.

Pandoras Box of Evil Slot Gameplay

We still got a run of the mill vibe from this release, somehow, but it’s a solid production in all regards.

Pandora’s Box of Evil Slot Features

The premium character symbols, many of which look like demons or trolls, pay between 5 and 8 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. Wild symbols can appear via the Mystery Symbols feature we’ll get into below, and wilds step in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve winning lines.

The Pandora’s Box Mystery Symbol will reveal either a Mystery Wild, a Pay Symbol, a Spirit of Hope symbol, or a Scatter symbol. If a pay symbol is revealed, it will be a randomly chosen matching symbol for all instances.

The Mystery Wild transformation happens before the Mystery Symbol opens to reveal something else, and the wild comes with a multiplier of x2, x3, x4, or x5. Multiplier values are added together if more than one wild is part of the same line win.

When the Mystery Symbol reveals the Spirit of Hope symbol, it comes with a respin that plays out after the current spin has finished. All present Mystery Symbols, Scatters, and/or Mystery Wilds become sticky for the respin, and the Mystery Symbols close and open to reveal a new symbol for the respin.

The Bonus Round triggers when you land at least 3 scatters in sight, and this gives you 8 free spins.

All Mystery Symbols that appear during the bonus round become sticky for the duration of the feature. They open to reveal a new symbol on each spin, and you win +2, +5, or +8 free spins when you land 1, 2, or 3 scatters on the same free spin, respectively.

The 200 Spins Pandora’s Box of Evil Slot Experience

You get to see the mystery symbol feature in action in the base game, and we land a few smaller wins here and there as well. The bonus round triggers close to the 1-minute mark, and it comes with a rather dramatic intro. Anyway, you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

The demons look more like trolls from Norse mythology than anything from Greek mythology as far as we’re concerned. Not that it matters much, and we guess these demon-like creatures are meant to represent all the evil of mankind that was unleashed when Pandara famously opened the forbidden box. Pandora’s Box of Evil is a typical Play’n Go release in many ways. It flows smoothly all the way, with an original twist to the mystery symbol feature.

The mystery symbol can reveal far more than just regular pay symbols in this game, and we suspect this trend will catch on and spread far and wide from this point forward. This can lead to decent payouts also in the base game, and your chances of closing in on the 6,000x potential increases when the mystery symbols become sticky in the bonus round.
