Divine Links Review

The latest addition to Bluprint's multi-studio strategy, slot developer studio Lucksome, eventually comes up with its first-ever creation, at least under that name. Powered by Blueprint and headed by the former NetEnt's director at games, Bryan Upton, as well as with experienced designers and developers from NetEnt and Yggdrasil in the crew, Lucksome is likely to have a bright future in the slots world. Perhaps, that's why the studio's first slot is Divine Links - a game based on Greek mythology, featuring quite an ordinary look and a couple of extras, but where most wins come via the Hold and Win bonus. Well, anyway, despite being as cliched as possible, it still has its strengths, which might actually make it an option to consider.

Divine Links - Slot Outlook

It's not that clear why does Blueprint need subsidiary studios like Lucksome which release slots like Divine Links. Not to say there's something wrong with Lucksome or Divine Links, except for lack of own style. You know, we bet you wouldn't tell it's not Blueprint's game if it wasn't stated it's not. Anyway, here we're once again taken to Mount Olympus for some greek mythology-inspired action, and the view in Divine Links is dominated by a standard 5x3 reel set with 20 ways to play.

Ornamented with gold, the reels are sitting on somewhat of an ancient greek building, with two massive gold pillars standing on either side of the grid. Nothing special indeed, though, the graphics are lovely. The orchestral soundtrack is also fairly common, but it does get the job done - matches the theme perfectly.

Divine Links Slot - Reel Screen

One thing players can surely rely on in the Divine Links slot is the math model. First and foremost, Lucksome aimed at the mainstream audience, thus Divine Links comes with medium-high volatility that plenty can take on. Even if that doesn't meet your appropriate gameplay standards, the developers made sure their brainchild appeals to almost everyone.

It's got higher than the average RTP of 96.46%, so wins will occur fairly often. What's more, Divine Links has a pretty impressive hit rate, and Lucksome claims that 8 out of 10 spins will theoretically be winning ones. However, more impressive is the maximum potential of 8,000x, which is honestly a gift, considering the generous above-mentioned stats.

On the reels, you'll find 8 regular symbols alongside a bunch of special ones. As for the regulars, those are split into two categories, with four making up the lows and four the highs. On the lower side, we get classic A-J royals, then go premiums, which include in ascending order a succulent apple, a pearl, a pigeon, and the goddess of love and passion Aphrodite. Five-of-a-kind royal symbol wins are worth from 7.5x to 10x the stake, while premiums offer payouts of up to 50x. Anyway, Wilds are the most rewarding among them, as it not only helps you form winning combos but pays twice as the Aphrodite symbol.

Divine Links - Bonus Features

Divine Links boasts a couple of common but powerful enough features to deliver massive prizes. Central to the gameplay is the Lux Reels feature, or Hold and Win, to be more precise.

Divine Links Slot Gameplay 420

Gold coins with cash values and Wild gold coins are bonus symbols, and landing 6 or more of those simultaneously will trigger the bonus game. Players will be given 3 Respins to start and proceed to an expanded 5x4 grid, where only coins and hearts can land.

Triggering symbols will lock in place for the remainder of the Lux Reels feature, as will new coins that appear on the reels. All coin and hear symbols reset the number of Respins back to 3 whenever they land. Heart symbols don't have attached cash values, but turn into random bonus symbols: new coins, Scatters, or 2x Multiplier. When the whole grid gets filled with symbols or the player runs out of Respins, all values in view get added together and paid to the player.

To help you enter the bonus, there's the Lucksome Locks feature, which triggers when 5 bonus symbols land in view. For the cost of 2x of your current total bet, you can lock bonus symbols and respin the reels for a chance to find the 6th part.

Next is the Free Spins feature, which can be activated in two ways.

You can either land 3 Scatters during the base game to trigger the Free Spins, or two Scatters during the Lux Reels bonus. Then, a selection screen will appear, offering two pick one out of 3 Free Spins modes, each with a different volatility level:

  • Low - gives 6 Free Spins. One of the lower-paying symbols will turn into a Scatter during the free games, and the Lux Reels feature is guaranteed.
  • Medium - gives 6 Free Spins. One low symbol also converts into a Scatter, and you're also guaranteed to trigger Lux Reels.
  • High - gives 8 Free Spins. Additional high cash values will be added to the reels.

You can access Free Spins instantly and skip the less exciting part via the Bonus Buy feature for the cost of 52.2x the stake. However, the feature is not available in particular markets, including those regulated by the UKGC.

Divine Links - Slot Verdict

It could have been a huge debut for some small young slot developer studio, but there's pretty much Blueprint's influence, so just +1 to its portfolio. Yet, those guys always have something to surprise their loyal fans, and Divine Links once again proves it. In fact, Lucksome has just recycled the Hold and Win feature and presented it in a new package under the name Lux Reels.

However, the devs have made sure players won't have a dull moment during the session and added 3 exciting Free Spins modes and the Lucksome Locks feature.

Divine Links Slot Review 7

All those together make the gameplay pretty much fun and rewarding. The math model, in turn, makes sure you won't at least be ripped off. Divine Links has a decent RTP and fairly high hit rate, meaning that you'll get your returns quite often, and huge winning potential so that you can get away with juicy prizes. All up, it's surely going to make waves among slot enthusiasts and capture the hearts of many more than just greek mythology fans.

Pros

  • Impressively balanced math model
  • 3 Free Spins modes and exciting bonus game
  • Availability of the Bonus Buy feature

Cons

  • Lack of originality and too much Blueprint's influence
  • Pretty cliched ancient greek mythology theme
Players have 3 options of varying volatilities – low, medium, or high. The first two award 6 free spins, a guaranteed Lux Reel trigger, and 1 regular symbol. What's more, Divine Links has a pretty impressive hit rate, and Lucksome claims that 8 out of 10 spins will theoretically be winning ones.
