Paradoxically, this is one of the more “normal” slots we’ve seen from this developer, but the Mega Pile™ bonus round is an exciting innovation nonetheless. The futuristic presentation is both immersive and slick, and you get a charming robot construction worker by your side all the way.

A hovering billboard in the background reads: “Tomorrow's bank of the future today!”, and the 5x5 grid is placed in the middle of the busy construction site that will turn into that bank in the near future. The base game doesn’t really come with any features, but you can trigger the trademarked Mega Pile bonus in two different ways. It comes with Bank Prizes up to 2,500x your stake, as well as an overall 4,000x potential.

The premium symbols all pay 0.12x your stake for 3, 4 and 5 of a kind wins, but the Any Adjacent Pays system dishes out 375x your stake for a full screen of the top-tier golden helmet symbol. You can land Scatter symbols in the base game only, and they reveal either a cash prize, special awards symbols, a multiplier symbol or a respin upgrade symbol.

Most of the symbols awarded by the scatters affect the Mega Pile feature only, and this bonus round triggers when you land 3 scatters at the same time. It plays out on an expanded 5x7 grid, and you get 3 rounds.

However, if the Mega Pile feature is triggered by a Respin Upgrade symbol, you get indefinite rounds until you hit 3 consecutive rounds with only passive symbols (these are blanks that don’t do anything).

Each Mega Pile round gives you cash prizes, multiplier symbols, special awards symbols and/or passive symbols. The Special Awards symbol generates cash prize symbols in all positions on the same row, column or adjacent positions. Cash prize symbols and multiplier symbols drop down to the lowest possible position after each round.

Multiplier symbols will boost all cash symbols on the same row, column or all adjacent symbols, and both symbols persist until the end of the feature. All the cash symbols are multiplier boosted and summed up as the feature ends. The multiplier you get is determined by one of the triggering scatter symbols, and there is no way to retrigger the feature.

In addition to regular cash prizes, you can also win Bank Prizes during the Mega Pile feature.

You win Bank Prizes by filling the 3, 4 or 5 bottom rows with cash and/or multiplier symbols, and you can only win one bank prize per feature. The Bank Prizes increase gradually as you play, and they reset when paid. The starting values are 25x, 250x and 2,500x your stake.

Review Summary

We have long since learned to expect the unexpected from Crazy Tooth Studio, and Build the Bank was both unexpectedly “ordinary” (for this developer at least) and extraordinary at the same time. The futuristic visuals are excellent, and you get fascinating animations both in the background and from the robot construction worker that hovers by your side throughout the whole session. The game pace is satisfying as well, not least with the turbo switched on.

The base game cannot deliver all that much in terms of features and winnings perhaps, but the Mega Pile feature is both innovative and exciting. It seemed to trigger on a fairly regular basis as well, and it reminded us a bit of Relax Gaming’s Dream Drop Jackpot feature. It can be over in a blink many times though, but it can deliver up to 4,000x your stake on a good day.

It feels like Crazy Tooth has entered a new league with this release, and Build the Bank is well worth checking out.
