Kalamba Games is celebrating a milestone with the release of Age of Huracan, as this is their 50th slot so far. We are not sure how the timing fits with the Mayan Calendar Long Count, which recently started a new cycle after the infamous end date, December 21th 2012, turned out to be a “nothing burger”. However, the thunderstorms you’ll see during the bonus round are certainly worthy of the apocalypse, and the overall visual presentation is very good, as usual from this developer.

“Huracán” is, of course, the Spanish word for hurricane, and you’ll see fire twisters unleashed purely as visual effects here. The up-front K-Cash collection system is an interesting twist, but the overall potential of the K-Cash Spins feature is not all that impressive, unfortunately. It would not have been too hard to tweak this game into a much more interesting anniversary release, but some players will probably find it entertaining enough for a while.

The Sun Disc Wild may land anywhere, and it steps in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combos. The blue and orange K-Cash symbols may also land on any reel. The Blue symbol adds its attached cash value to the meter above the reels, as does the Orange symbol.

However, the orange symbol also fills 1 of 5 spots in the Multiplier Meter that starts at 1x.

The multiplier increases by +1 per 5 orange cash symbols you land, up to 5x at the most. Sometimes the blue symbols land without any cash value attached. Although the empty symbols don’t contribute anything to the cash collection meter, they can still help you trigger the K-Cash Spins feature.

You need at least 3 K-Cash symbols present on the same spin to trigger the K-Cash Spins feature, and the triggering symbols become sticky. You start with 3 spins, and only K-Cash symbols and blanks will land. All new K-Cash symbols become sticky too, and resets the spin tally to 3 again each time they land.

Orange symbols increase the multiplier like in the base game, and all cash symbols are collected when you run out of spins or fill the screen with K-Cash symbols.

The total sum is boosted by the achieved multiplier. If you manage to fill the screen, you win a 10x your stake bonus prize, and this prize is also subject to the multiplier boost.

The statue or figure standing in a fire tornado is the scatter symbol, and you need 3, 4 or 5 on the same base game spin to trigger the Bonus Round. This awards 3, 8 or 15 free spins respectively, in addition to a scatter win of 2, 5 or 10 times your stake.

Review Summary

We really like how you can increase the multiplier and collect cash in a meter during base game play, while waiting to trigger the K-Cash Spins feature.

However, it would have been far more exciting with a multiplier that could go higher than only 5x. Factor in that the most valuable cash symbols are worth only 4x your stake, and you’ll soon figure out that the most you can win from the feature is 450x your stake. This includes the extra prize, with everything else also maxed out.

Kalamba could have easily 10x’ed everything to make this feature far more attractive. Instead, you need to rely on the Bonus Round to crack the 10,240x potential. However, a full screen of the top paying symbol can, in theory, pull that off also in the base game. Having no modifiers or extras saved up for the free spins round is also a strange choice, and keep in mind that K-Cash symbols are not collected during the feature.
