From the blood-splattering zombie apocalypse MultiPop™ debut, to a cute and cuddly feline universe called Kitty POPpins, you cannot accuse AvatarUX of being one-tracked in choice of themes at least. The MultiPop feature is a relatively new innovation from this developer, who is mostly known for their never-ending PopWins mechanic series. It provides random position multipliers per spin in all stages, and these increase by +1 per tumble win they are involved in.

The MultiPop multipliers were capped at x5 (or x10 in the FS round) in the first game, Zombie aPOPalypse MultiPop, but this is no longer the case in this follow-up. In addition, you get 3 unique and randomly triggered King Cat modifiers in all stages, and they are enhanced in the bonus round. You can get up to a 5x9 sized grid with 59,049 win ways in the top-tier FS feature, and the max win is still a solid 20,000x your stake.

Kitty POPpins Slot Features

You can turn on the Ante Bet via the Bonus/Feature Buy menu (not UK), and paying 25 % extra per spin doubles your bonus round chances. The symbols pay between 0.5 to 2 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and there are no wild symbols in this game. Winning symbols are removed via the Tumble mechanic, and this means that new and/or existing symbols drop down to fill the gaps.

The MultiPop feature adds random multipliers to random positions per spin, and these position multipliers apply to each tumble win. What’s more, added symbols in the tumble win feature increase the involved position multipliers progressively by +1 each time.

The King Cat feature can trigger at random times, and it gives you 1 of 3 modifiers as follows:

• Cattilycious Respin - adds extra multipliers to random positions, and all multipliers are locked in place for a respin. This feature can also increase existing multipliers.
• Cateriffic Re-Shuffle - adds frames that can come with multipliers to certain positions, and these frames shuffle around symbols to possibly create a win.
• Catcellent Removal - removes up to 2 low-value symbol types for the current spin.

The Bonus Round triggers when you land at least 3 scatters anywhere in view, and here is an overview of what you can expect:

• 3 triggering scatters awards 5 free spins on a 5x7 sized grid.
• 4 triggering scatters awards 8 free spins on a 5x8 sized grid.
• 5 triggering scatters awards 12 free spins on a 5x9 sized grid.

Besides the grid size increase, the difference from the base game is that the King Cat features are enhanced as follows:

• Cattilycious Respin - adds up to 8 position multipliers.
• Cateriffic Re-Shuffle - will shuffle up to 10 symbols.
• Catcellent Removal - removes up to 5 low-value symbols.

The Xpress Bonus Buy menu is available in some jurisdictions, but not in the UK for sure. You can get a King Cat feature on every spin if you’re willing to pay 7.5x your regular stake, and you can also pay 75x, 200x, or 500x your stake for 5, 8, or 12 free spins, respectively. The Max FS option costs 1,000x your stake, and it gives you 15 free spins on a maxed out grid with 9 rows, as well as a King Cat feature on every spin.

Review Summary

It’s probably a good idea to make this second MultiPop installment appeal to a very different crowd than the horror debut, Zombie aPOPalypse MultiPop. That being said, the awkward pause between base game spins issue has yet to be resolved. The good news is that the position multipliers are not capped at x5 in this follow-up, and this means that larger payouts can come out of the blue also in the base game. We are still waiting for the MultiPop concept to be paired with AvatarUX’ notorious PopWins mechanic, however, as this is not the case in this game either.

At least they have 2 different core features to play with now, instead of just one, and we are sure the two will collide to spawn a brand new universe at some point in the future. The King Cat modifiers come in handy at times, and they are even more effective in the bonus round. The Max FS round with a new modifier per spin is only available via the Bonus Buy menu, however, and thus not for all players. The 20,000x potential has not been changed since the first game, and we prefer the zombie theme to the feline theme to be honest. However, Kitty POPpins is still a highly enjoyable release, but we really hope the pace issue is amended soon.
