If you ever walk into a joint like Bugsy’s Bar, well, you better pray you’re not blackout drunk, cause you’ll most likely not make it out of there in one piece. The reels are framed by a jukebox that’s riddled with bullet holes, full of blood splatter, and it even has a knife stabbed into it. This is a watering hole where the likes of Al Capone might show up, and a lookalike is found in a white suit on the reels.

The base game comes with no features, but this release does have a few aces up its sleeve. The tension is tangible all the way, with the threat of violence in the air, and the bonus round comes with an interesting pre-game. You’ll spin 3 shot glasses to get 3 of 5 modifier extras, and you get a new shot glass spin per retrigger. The 26,670x potential took us by surprise, as Red Tiger usually goes low instead of high, but this seems to have changed lately.

You need 3 scatter symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5 to trigger the Bonus Round, and it comes with 7 free spins. You will spin a mini slot made of 3 shot glasses up front, however, and this is called the Bugsy’s Special feature. The spin gives you a combo of 3 modifiers to bring with you into the bonus round, and these are as follows:

• Bonus Spins - adds 1 to 3 extra free spins to your tally.
• Remove Small -Time Symbol - removes a royal symbol (J, Q, K, or A) for the duration of the bonus round.
• Locked Wilds - makes all wilds that appear sticky for the duration of the feature.

Review Summary

Judging from the blood-splattered Jukebox, bullet-hole riddled and knife-stabbed as it is, Bugsy’s is no place you wander in for a bachelor party or a fun evening out. This is where the creatures of the 1920s prohibition period underworld crawl between their bootlegging and murder incorporated ventures. The main character looks a bit like Al Capone, which is hardly a coincidence, and there is a tension going in the base game despite the lack of modifiers.

This game would have benefited immensely from random modifiers like a shootout that riddles the grid with wilds, or similar sudden violence that gives you a taste of what goes on in this joint on a regular basis. We do like the schnapps glass pre bonus round spin though, and it can rig your bonus round with some fine extras. We also like that you can retrigger to get more, or upgrade existing extras, and the 26,670x potential is solid by any measure (and not least for being Red Tiger).
