Stakelogic partner, Hurricane Games, seems inspired by Wild Wild Riches as much as the Fishin’ Frenzy franchise, since you need 2 fisherman wilds to catch anything in Wild Wild Bass. The title isn’t exactly shy about it either, and this release will take you on a pretty volatile fishing expedition. A big difference is the vast number of default win ways you get, and the grid can even expand via the Big Catch feature.

You will thus play with between 2,304 and 5,625 ways to win in the base game, but keep in mind that the fish prize symbols are blocking regular wins on a very regular basis. The bonus round is somewhat inspired by the ultrapopular Big Bass Bonanza, but the fish prize multiplier is random instead of incremental in this game. Visually, there are some similarities too, but in the end we weren’t too impressed by this installment.

The premium symbols pay between 2.5 and 15 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and the fisherman Wilds appear on reels 1 and 2 only. As a Wild, the fisherman steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete wins, but he also serves as a Collect symbol. The Cash Fish symbols that come with random prizes are only collected in the 2 features we’ll discuss below.

Turning on the Super Stake ante bet option increases your bet size by 40 %, and this gives you more wilds in the base game, which again increases your chances of triggering the Big and Insane Catch features.

The Big Catch feature triggers when you land 2 wilds on the first two reels, and the Insane Catch feature triggers when you land an Insane Catch symbol during the Big Catch feature.

As the Big Catch feature triggers by the 2 wilds on reels 1-2, extra rows are added to reels 3 to 6 (up to 2 extra positions per reel). All cash fish prizes in view are then collected, and a fully expanded grid gives you 5,625 ways to win, as opposed to 2,304 win ways in the regular base game.

The Insane Catch fish symbols appear on reel 6 only, and they come with a number of free spins attached (like +3, for example). The Insane Catch feature triggers only when 2 wilds are present on reels 1-2, and you get either 2, 3 or 4 Insane Spins for starters.

Reel 1 and 2 turn into a merged multiplier reel during the feature, with random values between x1 and x5 appearing per insane spin. You’ll land blanks or cash fish on reels 3 to 6, and cash fish prizes are boosted by the current multiplier. You can also win extra spins by landing more insane catch symbols during the feature.

Review Summary

We tried to like this game, huge fans of the fish slot genre as we are, but something just felt off while playing it. First of all, there is a lack of transparency. With an ante bet option you need to be crystal clear about the benefit of paying extra, not vague like in this game. It would also be nice to know the cash fish prize range, although most of them aren’t worth all that much. We also have no idea about the max win potential, although this will hopefully be revealed at some point in the future.

Having a huge number of win ways, compared to only 10 in Fishin’ Frenzy, isn’t really a massive selling point, not least since the frequent stacks of cash fish stand in the way of regular wins. Needing 2 wilds to collect is also a bit of a ‘meh’, and the bonus round would’ve been more engaging with an uncapped multiplier that increased per spin. Overall, this is a decent attempt from Hurricane Games, but it didn’t really hit the spot.
