Blueprint loves to play with different concepts, and add their own unique twist to create something unique. They generate whole slot series this way, like they’ve done with the ‘Book slot’ cousin Eye of Horus. Visually, there is hardly anything new to see here, but the animations flow smoothly with an overall pleasant pace. The regular book symbol has been replaced by the game logo, and it serves double duty as both the wild and the scatter in this game. As a wild, the game logo steps in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combos. As a scatter however, you win 10, 15, 25 or 50 free spins when you land 3, 4, 5 or 6 anywhere on the same spin, respectively.

Review Summary

Adding the usually missing ‘the’ to the title is far from the only twist Blueprint has added to the regular ‘Book of’ formula, and Crypt of The Dead is nothing short of a small genre revolution. Theoretically, large payouts can be landed also in the base game, due to the 4,096 win ways. This is massive compared to the 10 paylines you normally get. However, most of the time it feels like a regular ‘Book slot’ grind.

The 6th reel and all the extra win ways can really shine during the bonus round though, but it’s still a very ‘hit or miss’ kind of feature. The good news is that even low value royals can award solid payouts, while all premiums take you way above the regular 5,000x win cap if you manage to fill the screen. The 40,960x single spin potential might not be unheard of in the ‘Book of’ genre, but still towers way above the standard 5,000x max win we’ve all grown so accustomed to.
