Scroll of Seth Review

Given the ancient Egypt theme and the name of this game, we were pretty sure we were in for yet another installment in Play’n Go’s eternal ‘Book of’ series. This is not the case, however, as Scroll of Seth is more related to Coywolf Cash from 2020. It takes you into yet another dark and dusty tomb, however, instead of the great North American outdoors, but the features are pretty similar in the two games. The math model has undergone some favorable upgrades, however, which makes Scroll of Seth a superior game overall.

The base game comes with a Wild Reel that can unleash up to 3 full-reel wilds, and the Wild Reel can be upgraded to tier 2 in the bonus round. This gives you multiplier wild reels and extra spins, and it’s your best shot at cracking the 5,000x potential. The RTP has not been changed from the original game, but the top-tier wild multiplier is higher, as well as the max win. This is a solid remake if nothing else, and well worth checking out if you can stomach yet another dusty Egyptian tomb.

Scroll of Seth Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 0.6 and 1.6 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and you can land 2 unique wild symbols in this game.

Both step in for any pay symbol to help complete wins, and you get the regular wild in stacks on reels 2 to 4. Wilds award 6x your stake for 5 on the same payline, while 5 Enhanced Wilds on a payline pays 30x your stake.

The Scroll of Seth feature triggers from a scroll scatter, which can only land on reel 3, and this activates the Wild Reel seen above the main grid. The Wild Reel comes with 2 tiers, and Tier 1 is what you get in the base game. You need the bonus round to activate Tier 2, and we’ll take a look at how it all works below.

The Wild Reel Tier 1 triggers from a scroll scatter in the base game, as mentioned, and this can award up to 3 Enhanced Wilds. All symbols on the reels directly below the wilds on the Wild Reel turn into Enhanced Wilds, while Ankh scatters turn into regular wilds.

The Bonus Round triggers from 3, 4, or 5 Ankh scatters in view, and this gives you 8, 11, or 15 free spins, respectively.

The Wild Reel Tier 2 can only trigger in the bonus round, and you need to land a Scroll scatter on the Wild Reel to get there.

This awards stacks of x2, x4, or x11 multiplier wilds below the wilds on the Wild Reel, and Ankh scatters award +2 or +4 extra spins. Symbols need to be highlighted on the Wild Reel to actually do anything though, and the Ankh scatters serve as wild symbols as well. Up to 50 free spins can be won in total.

The 200 Spins Scroll of Seth Slot Experience

You get to see mostly dead spins, with a few smaller wins sprinkled in here and there, in the base game, before we finally trigger the bonus round at 2:22 into the 3:43-minute highlights video. We got 8 free spins, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

Scroll of Seth comes across as a kissing cousin to Play’n Go’s infamous ‘book slot’ saga, but it’s more than a distant relative to their previous Coywolf Cash. You’re basically looking at a remake, but the math model has been tweaked in a somewhat favorable way. The volatility has been dialed down a notch, although it’s hardly noticeable, but the max win of 5,000x is definitely noticeably higher than the 4,000x you get in the obvious source of inspiration. Even more importantly, the max win hit rate has been bumped up to 1 in 100m spins from 1 in 333m.

The ancient Egypt theme is visually pleasing, but we have seen similar things many times before from this and other developers. The base game offers what amounts to up to 3 expanded wilds, and these can be enhanced with multipliers up to x11 in the bonus round.

The top-tier multiplier is thus a bit higher than the x7 you get in Coywolf Cash, but the top-tier RTP remains the same. Scroll of Seth is a decent remake overall, and we would prefer this version if we had to choose between the two. Not only because of the more favorable math model, but also because the visuals are more pleasing.

Pros

  • Up to 3 expanding wilds from Wild Reel
  • Up to x11 multiplier expanded wilds in FS
  • Win up to 5,000x (1 in 100m hit rate)

Cons

  • Beware of adjustable RTP ranges
  • Beefed up remake of Coywolf Cash
