The backstory of Wild Trigger provides a context that’s designed to suck you into the action, and you’ll be introduced to a couple of bank robbing outlaws named Clint McGraw and Dottie Fields. They’ve just pulled off the biggest heist the frontier has ever seen, but greed has gotten the better of them both. The showdown between them plays out when the Duel bonus round triggers, and it’s safe to say that bullets are flying.

You’re kept warm in the base game too, via the Walkdown Respin feature that triggers whenever one of the fully stacked outlaw wilds appears alone on the grid. Audiovisually, Wild Trigger is decent, but the soundtrack is far from the best we’ve heard in the Wild West slot genre. The game is hardly equipped to take on the heavy hitters though, and the medium volatility and 2,000x potential clearly indicate that this is meant for casual punters.

The premium symbols pay between 12.5 and 50 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and you also have 2 wild symbols that play a central part in all stages of the game. Review Summary

The semi-transparent grid placed in the middle of main street sets the stage for a showdown from the start, but Play’n Go is in no way challenging the alpha gunslingers in the wild west genre with this release.

This is probably a very conscious strategy. Obviously, a medium volatile installment that tops out at 2,000x your stake will cater to a very different segment than volatile beasts like Dead or Alive 2 and Deadwood.

Nothing wrong with that really, as all rungs on the ladder are needed, and there is a certain entertainment value in seeing the 2 gunslingers duke it out in the bonus round. Their guns must be loaded with the same “magic bullet” that killed Kennedy though, or perhaps the new DARPA technology called “self-steering bullets”. At least that’s what it looks like. Overall, a decent introduction to the wild west genre, which may help players build confidence to take on the legendary big guns.
