It’s hardly the sunken city of Atlantis itself that’s rising in this game, but we get the play on words SpinPlay is utilizing with their Atlantis Rising title. What you do get however, is plenty of randomly added wild bubbles, and these keep rising per spin, with or without a 2x multiplier attached. The soundtrack is pleasantly dozy, but it might cause you to fall asleep if you play late at night. The defining feature of this game is definitely the Rising Wilds. These are golden bubbles that are added at random times, and they float one position up per spin. The rising wilds will sometimes come with 2x multipliers attached, and you can get more than 1 rising wild on the screen at the same time.

There is also a regular wild symbol in play, and it steps in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combos.

It pays the same as the highest value compass symbol, awarding 5x your stake for 5 on a payline.

Whenever a Rising Wild overlays said compass symbol, you trigger the Wild Blast feature. This turns all adjacent positions into either wilds or 2x multiplier wilds, but the wilds created from the blast will not become rising wilds.

The Bonus Round is triggered when you land at least 3 trident scatters anywhere in sight. You will be taken to a screen where bubbles rise to the top, and you pick bubbles to reveal free spins or extra bubble picks. Each bubble pops to award between 1 and 5 free spins, or 2 to 3 extra bubble picks.

You get 10, 15 or 20 bubble picks to start with when you land 3, 4 or 5 trident scatters, respectively. You can also retrigger the bonus round the same way it was triggered in the first place.

The feature itself plays out like the base game, so it’s all about rising wilds and multiplier wilds, with the occasional wild blast feature sprinkled in for good measure.

We were reminded of the classic 80s video game, Bubble Bobble, as we tested Atlantis Rising, although the visuals have more of a late 90s vibe. The rising bubble wilds is a clever concept for sure, and a bunch of them together, combined with a multiplier or two, can land you a decent base game payout once in a while. Of course, the Wild Blast is also helpful in that regard.

It’s kind of fun to pick bubbles as a warm-up to the bonus round, and getting plenty of spins seemed like a breeze. It would have been nice with something extra to look forward to during free spins however, and the 500x potential will not impress high rollers. The low to medium volatility reveals that this game is aimed at casual players mostly, and in that regard it’s a decent enough effort if you don’t mind the somewhat dated appearance.
